How To Reduce Cough As Antibiotics And Codeine Not Helping?

Hi. I had a endoscopy and dilation of the esophagus about 2 months ago. I have a nagging cough. Doctor gave me a antobiotics and codeine. Nothing helped, I still cough. I don't cough up mucus. Always clearing my throat. Should I go back to my doctors. Also I take Prilosec for aid reflux.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Throat irritation & sore throat is possible after endoscopy. It can last from few hours to few weeks.being due to irritation of throat followed by infection, usually antibiotics with analgesic anti inflammatory drugs& occasionally anti allergic pills with cough syrups are given to treat it .& few days of treatment suffices.Saline gargles do help.
If you have the symptoms continued ,you have to consult your doctor -
- he will check you up for possible tonsillitis, may take throat swab/sputum for culture & sensitivity test. This will suggest effective antibiotic.
