How To Reduce Cough?

I HAVE A COUGH THAT KEEPS ME UP FOR HOURS AT A TIME, IT GETS SO BAD THAT I HAVE TO VOMIT ANY SUGGESTIONS AS WHAT TO USE I HAVE A COUGH SYRUP WITH CODIENE BUT DOES NOT WORK, AND TRIED HONEY AND APPLE CIDER VINEGAR THAT HELPED A LITTLE, WHEN I GET A COLD THE COUGH JUST LINGERS

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The persistent cough experienced by you appears to be allergic type.
Allergy to cold could be the cause of persistence of cough for long duration.
Cough suppressants are required in this situation.
The drugs mentioned by you- cough suppressants containing codeine are usually effective in allergic and persistent cough.
An anti-allergic also needs to be added in my opinion.
Thus, I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and prescription of antihistamines in addition to cough suppresant.
