How To Reduce High Cholesterol Levels?

Hello. I am a 50 year old male with the following blood results: Glucose 71; Triglicericides 238; Cholesterol 236; B.P 120/80. I do drink to much alcohol, I've just stopped smoking (2 weeks ago), don't take much exercise and eat sweets by the bag load. Time to change. Will even the simple act of stopping the sweets lower my Triglicericides and will this also help lower my Cholesterol?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query.Your Lipid profile gives impression of dyslipaemia.High triglyceride level you got can be due to excess intake of sweets. Most of the bakery sweets are loaded with trans fatty acids which is extremely harmful for body.So you should completely avoid those and do excercises like walking atleast 8km/hr speed or swimming or jogging which all helps to normalize your cholesterol. You can also take oily fish like makeral to increase your HDL and normalizes others. But even after doing these all measures, your cholesterol remains high then you have to start medication. In such case i recommend statin plus fenofibrate in low dose in such condition.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
