How To Reduce Itchiness All Over The Body While Having Folliculitis?

hi, I have ended up with Folliculitis and had it about 4-5 days. Doctor gave a steriod cream to apply, which doesn t seem to be doing much, 3rd day of use. Terrible itching started last night all over, and it is bad today, leaving huge rashes from the scratching and I am sat in the office scratching away, which is embarassing also. Started taking Flucloxallin (antibiotics) today. Anything you can suggest to relieve the awful itchyness all over?

Hello. Thank you for contacting HCM.
Do you have reddish rashes alone or do you also have pus filled pimple like lesions around the follicles?And where are the rashes.
You may continue the antibiotic tabs as advised. Preferably use a cream with steroid and antibiotic combination such as fusidic acid+ beclomethasone twice a day only on the folliculitis.
For the itching take an antihistamine like fexofenadine or levocet daily. Do not scratch the rashes. During the day you can apply a calamine lotion to soothe the itching.
Also make sure you don't have any allergies to any medicines you're taking.
