How To Reduce Itching In Vulva?

hello Dr am suffering for year severe itchy in the vuvlva seen many Dr as well but did nt get well do far am nt diabetic i dont drink or eat sugary things .Recently i have been to a Gynae he gave some medications for herpies instead its getting worst. Please Dr any remedy i would be very grateful Thank you to answer promptly Anusha

Hi Anusha, Thanks for posting in HCM.

Itchy vulva is called pruritus vulvae. It is commonly be due to contact dermatitis or micro-organisms like candida & lactobacilli.

To overcome this what you need to do is:
Wash the area twice daily with lukewarm water or use a soap-free cleanser instead of conventional soap.
Avoid scratching or rubbing the affected area. Keep the area cool by wearing loose fitting undergarments, especially at night time.

Insert tampons with care, and change sanitary pads frequently. You can take antihistamines like cetrizine 10mg once a day for itching.

Hydrocortisone cream is generally safe but do not apply for more than a few days.
