How To Reduce Pain And Swelling Around Wrist?

I have developed a relatively sudden wrist pain and swelling around the small bone that lines up with my index finger on the palmar side - I think related to using a computer mouse and leaning/pressure on my wrist. It is painful to extend my wrist and when palpating the area. Pressure doesn t relieve the pain. Thanks for your input.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for trusting healthcaremagic.com!

I'm Dr. Elton Halili, General & Family Physician.

I really understand your condition and below are my reccomandations:

- I would prescribe Ibuprofen 3 times daily for three days.

- Ice application for swelling.

- Avoid of this activity for at least a day, and then try to move your hands slowly.

Take care!
