How To Reduce Stomach Bloating While On Medication For COPD?

Hi! I haven t been officially diagnosed with COPD, however, my pulmonologist did put me on Spiriva & Qvar last year to release hardened mucus in my lungs. It s had a 50/50 success rate...I have good and bad days. My issue now is my bloated stomach. Is there anything I can take to relieve it. I do believe it stems from my having breathing issues.

Hello,

To reduce stomach bloating you are suggested to take medicines after food. Avoid constipation. Take food rich in fiber, you can take laxatives at bed time. Stay well hydrated. Always take food in time. Take small portions multiple times a day. Avoid food that is rich and spicy, stay away from junk food, food that triggers formation of gas. Take home made food cooked in olive oil. Take food that is well cooked and easily digestible. Avoid eating raw fruits and veggies, cook them well before consumption.

For relief you can take antacids and PPIs, one SOS for relief from bloating. Stay physically active. Do regular walking and exercises. Avoid addictions if any. Get physically examined by a GP, get imaging tests and routine examinations done to rule out ulcer (esophageal / gastric), IBS, GERD, etc. You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
