How To Reduce Swelling Above The Ankle?

I got hit on the lower leg just above the ankle & a littleon the ankle over a week ago. It hurt then and it still hurts badly and is still swollen. I iced, elevated. I was just wondering if at some point I should have it looked at? I thought it would just leave a nasty bruise and go away. Is this a normal thing to still be swelling over a week later?
