How To Reduce The Swelling Of Leg Below The Knee Cap?

i tripped yesterday and did not fall all the way- but my leg below the knee cap fell into a wooden step- it immediately swelled very bad, I left church and went to a gas station and got some ice in a baggie and put on it within about 15 minutes, I kept it propped up in a recliner all afternoon- shouldn't the swelling have gone down by now-
