47, 5 9 , 344# My midsection is bigger than my hips, large belly. My mother and I have the same apple shape. She has diabetes, I d like to steer clear of it. Extra info, last year I got sick from Strep bacteria and Rheumatic Fever. Before I got sick, I was an avid walker. With being ill my feet, ankles, knees and wrists are very swollen. I m in constant pain. I find it extremely difficult to walk very far and I certainly can t get up any sort of speed. I find myself breathless after a short walk inside my office. I absolutely can not get on my knees, way too painful. I need to lose weight and get back into shape. I know diet isn t going to do it alone. Where the heck do I start?? I ve been applying some of the ideas I read in Dr. Sear s Zone Diet book, not really any kind of results. Is there a Diabetes site somewhere that helps with people BEFORE they might get diabetes?? I look bad and feel worse...Any ideas?
