How To Remove Dried Blood From The Inner Ear?

How do you remove dried blood from the inner ear? My husband had a blood vessel rupture and the urgent care doctor said to use hydrogen peroxide a week later to dissolve the blood clot. He didn t want to remove it because he said it would do the same thing, needed to let it heal first before removing the dried blood. Should I just saturate a cotton ball and let it sit in the ear canal or what?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I don't recommend to put cotton balls on it. Just hydrogen peroxide water or ear drops like Boric Acid for disinfection and will also clear the blood clot.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
