General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is a clinical condition called pica. Iron deficiency anemia is a major cause of pica. Go for a complete blood count check whether you are anemic or not.

The symptoms will settle once the anemia corrected. In resistant cases, behavioral therapy may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
