How To Stop Continuation Of Plavix ?

I have been on Plavix since my heart attack on 09-14-09. I had 2 stints implanted that day. i am a diabetic. I can no longer afford to take the medication as of 01-01-11 due to insurance changes. my cardiologist told me he planned on keeping me on Plavix 2 years. Well unfortunately this is not possible. How do I wean off this medication? Is it safe to suddenly stop?
