Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have a drinking problem - have the alcoholic gene (both parents, grand parents, brother), also my husband, and two sons. Have tried everything and now my Dr. has put me on Naltrexone GH and thought it was doing good, but had a bottle of wine tonight and now im depressed that nothing has changed with me although my Dr. told me i would get really sick. Maybe i have really health genes. Not sure how. Really want to give up drinking cause i have put on mega weight and thats the only thing that causes my weight problem - eat really well otherwise. Have a very stressful home life - thats why i drink. Any answers for me on how to stop drinking, Please.
I can understand your concern. As you are regretting your relapse so much and you are already seeing a doctor to help you quit drinking, you are still on the right path. As you have had long standing alcohol addiction, some relapses are expected, but regretting them and getting back of quitting track with full confidence in yourself and without loss of enthusiasm will lead you to successful quitting.
I would advise you to just ignore your little relapse as a sign of weakness and get ready again to start counting dry days. Remember the higher the number of times you try to quit drinking, the higher are the chances that you will be able to successfully quit it.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you good luck!
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
