How To Stop Itchy Throat When Having Sinus Infection?

I have a sinus infection and periodically I'll get a really itchy throat and cough to the point where I'll gag. What can I do to stop it? It really bothers me because my biggest fear is throwing up so it freaks me out. Is there a home remedy to stop the gagging?

Regarding your query for treatment of itchy throat with sinusitis, I would like to say that till sinusitis is there one will have the post nasal drip, this drip drains the infection to throat and patient feels itching in throat.

You may get temporary relief by-

1- Steam inhalation.

2- Anti allergic and mucolytic.

But for better treatment you should consult your ENT doctor, for examination and relevent investigations to find out-

(a) Which sinus is involved ( one or more or pan sinusitis).

(b) Is it unilateral or bilateral.

(c) Severity of sinusitis (mucosal thickening / Fluid / polyp /Blocked osteomeatal
complex).

(d) Type of pathological procress (allergic / infective- bacterial or viral).

By working on above line one may decide the treatment of choice may be conservative or surgical.
