How To Stop Yellow Brown, Bloody Phelgm While Being On Decongestent And Nasal Spray For Sinusitis?
I have medication in a nasal spray for sinusitis, I have been taking it for days and the symptoms keep coming and going. I am taking a decongestent, I can barely get anything to come out and when I do it is yellow brown, or bloody. How do I stop this from continuing
Hello Thanks for your query. Use of decongestant for a prolonged period may cause aggravation of your symptoms and this is known as rebound congestion. You can use azelastine and fluticasonenasal spray for 2 weeks followed by fluticasone nasal spray for 1 month or so and also you have to avoid dust and allergens. Do consult an ENT surgeon and get locally examined. Thank you. Dr Arnab Maji
