Dear Asha, Hi
There is a high risk of getting severe complications like
incomplete abortion, profuse bleeding, pelvic or
uterine infection if you make an attempt to terminate pregnancy at home. Hence, I would advise you to consult a gynecologist for
1. Confirmation of the pregnancy & its duration
Medical termination of pregnancy is advisable within 7 weeks of duration.
2. The
gestational sac (pregnancy) should be within the uterus (womb).
Ectopic pregnancy (like in
fallopian tube, etc) should be ruled out, as medical termination of pregnancy can be dangerous.
The gynecologist will then prescribe you the kit which contains two different tablets:
One big tablet Mifepristone- it is to be taken orally first, then after 24 hours remaining 4 tablets of
Misoprostol are to be taken orally at once.
Bleeding (abortion) occurs within 6 hours to 5 days.
You should visit doctor and ask doctor's help in any time.
After the bleeding stops, it is obligatory to confirm complete abortion by consulting a gynecologist.
Hope to have given the suggestion regarding the termination of pregnancy.
