How To Treat Cardiac Syndrome X Effectively? Taking Diltiazem, Isosorbide, Lisinopril, Nitro Patch But Still Angina Strikes
I was wondering if any new research has revealed effective treatment for Cardiac Syndrome X. I am on Diltiazem 180mg/day, Isosorbide MN ER 60/day. Lisinopril 5mg/day, Atenolol 25mg/day and a 0.2mg/hr nitro patch. These usually hold my angina in check and most of the time I can walk, swim and ride my bike at a slow pace...but every now and again without rhyme or reason the angina strikes and stays for days...even when I double my meds. I have had two angios and have minimal intimal irregularities - but no blockages. I am a 58 y/o male, 5 7 , 215#.
By Your query I came to know you are looking for some novel treatment for Cardiac Syndromes X. You seems to have pretty good knowledge about your disease so let me give you an overview of new therapies.
EECP (Enhance External Counter Pulsation) is a new treatment strategy of angina for patients like you. In our centre it cost 1000 US dollars. and there are 36 session each one consisting of 1 hour. So you have to visit the centre 36 days. This therapy helps you by making new vessels that supply blood to your heart and improve its contractility. Its even alternative to exercise. Research showed excellent reduction in angina.
Another therapy is Spinal Cord stimulation. it helps 50% patients who are resistant to all treatment you mentioned in your query.
Apart from above treatment modalities psychotherapy, diet modification and regular exercise along with smoking cessation can reduce your symptoms. Assess your self and see which change you made in your life which is resulting in poor control of the pain.
