How To Treat Laryngitis Leading To Cough And Voice Hoarseness?
I have had larengitis for 4 days now. I have used warm tea and honey for those days. I went to Prompt Care on my SECOND Day (sunday) that was 2 days ago. I started some coughing so I took some Day Quil.Do I just have to wait to get my voice back? How long could it be?What advice can you give me?
As per your complain Laryngitis occurs due to inflammation of vocal cords and can occur due to infection, overuse or irritation.. It can occur due to bacterial or viral infection while can be due to irritation like acid reflux, sinusitis, post nasal drip, allergies etc.. So the first thing that you should do is to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated for the exact cause of the problem and treat accordingly.. In case of infection you can be given antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers and throat lozenges for relief.. If it is due to irritation removing/treating the cause of irritation can help.. As of now: -Do warm saline gargles, do steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room.. - Suck throat lozenges. -Avoid spicy and sharp foods.. -Sip on plenty of water, preferably warm throughout the day.. -Speak less and avoid shouting to prevent straining and irritating the vocal cords..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
