How To Treat Subserosal Fibroid Of 5cm?

Dr., I am diagnosed with subserosal fibroid of about 5 cm . As of now, I do not have any major problems because of that. I am 42 yrs old. My periods are also regular except for heavy bleeding on second day alone. periods lasts for about 5 days only. Can I get my fibroid alone removed or should I also get my uterus and ovaries removed ? But, I am a diabetic and also hv bp. I heard that ovaries and harmones secreted keep the females away from heart problems till they attain their menopause.
