How To Treat A Dislodged IUD?

i have had a check up because i recently had a iud and i was gettin severe pain, first check up the doctors seen the strings i had asked for it to be removed and they said because the strings were shorter than when they had placed the iud in me, that i needed a ultrasound before they could remove it so i waited over the weekend but the pain was so intense that i went back to the doctor and the strigns were gone completly so i was scheduled for emergency ultrasound and they couldnt see the iud so a xray was taken and the iud is lodged in my pelvic cavity doctors are saying it can jus stay there but it is very painful for me still and i want it removed is it possible without having to be cut open?
