How To Treat A Fractured Foot In The Elderly?

My sister is 55 years old. She has fallen 4 times in the past 6 months. She has broken a bone 2 x. Bone density testing was normal. She fell down the stairs a week ago and broke a bone in her foot. She felt she may have blacked out but did not tell her doctor due to fear. She spilled her drink twice yesterday. We are concerned. Looking for directions, but urging her to go to the doctor right away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to fracture.

For further assessment you may require MRI foot after orthopedician consultation.

You may require POP or surgical intervention after surgeon consultation.

Till then you can take tablet acetaminophen for pain.

Use support while walking.

Avoid direct pressure on that foot.

Hope I have answered your query..
Let me know if I can assist you further.
