How To Treat A Large Hemorrhoid On Leg?

I have a pretty big hemorrhoid. I got up to go to the bathroom and felt something running down my leg. When I looked, it was blood. It was dark and smells awful, kind of like diarrhea. I had drops of it all the way to the shower. I took a shower and put on more shorts and blood has already leaked through the underwear and shorts, in a matter of minutes. I have a dr. appt. tomorrow morning, but was wondering if I need to go to the emergency room.
