How To Treat A Pain In My Shoulder?

I went to see an orthopedic about my my pain in the left shoulder. He diagnosed it as a strained trapezious and suggested physical therapy and anti inflammatory. I have been diagnosed with it a year ago and physical therapy didn't help much. Is there anything else I could do for it.
