How To Treat A Sore Xiphoid Process?

I have had a sore xiphoid process for years. It is sore to the touch (when I press down with my fingers), but otherwise does not hurt. There is no swelling. The discomfort comes and goes, but has not generally increased over the years. Thanks. I am 57, male, 6 feet, 180 lbs., good health.
