How To Treat A Swollen Tongue And Lip After An Allergic Reaction To Shrimp?

I was in the ER for an allergic reaction to shrimp. They released me with Prednisone & Benadryl get rid of the swelling in my tongue. It s 4 days later & my tongue is still swollen and now my lips are too. I don t think I should take the Prednisone.

Hi

Welcome in H.C.M.

In reference to your query regarding allergic swelling of your tongue and lips, which is still persisting even after taking steroid (prednisone) and benadryl. Though you got relief but still swelling on tongue is there.

As you said only 4 days have passed so I think you may continue the treatment for three to four days with tapering dose of prednisone.

At the same time you should avoid contact with shrimp.

Thanks for consulting H.C.M.
