How To Treat Abdominal Discomfort While Experiencing Braxton Hicks Contractions?

I m almost 39 weeks pregnant and have Braxton hicks lasting hours for the last few nights. Now when I walk or move period it feels as if I m constipated in my abdomen and is extremely uncomfortable. I had a c-section with my first born, could this be extra discomfort from the scarring?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Braxton Hicks contractions are described as the contractions that occur before real labor during third trimester of pregnancy. They are also called 'practice contractions'.
There is nothing to be worried about as such contractions occur when mother or the baby are very active, on touching mother's belly or when the bladder is full. Such contractions are also triggered by dehydration.
Kindly relax, empty the bladder and drink good quantities of water during this time.
Abdominal discomfort and constipation can be overcome by intake of fibre rich diet and laxatives like Isabgol Powder Psyllium Husk.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Best wishes for a healthy outcome.
