General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I would suggest you to take a pelvic ultrasound and also X-rays to rule out any hormonal imbalance and also to rule out any fractures and internal bleeding. Stress can also be associated with changes in menstrual cycle presenting as heavy bleeding or lighter bleeding which differs from person to person.

Hormonal pills are the common medication given.Treatments include birth control pills to regularise periods. Anti-fibrinolytics and Anti-spasmodics can also reduce the excess bleeding and any associated cramping.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
