Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Am 30 am now having acne for the first time...am using derivia c and cetaphil antibacterial soap...the problem is the left side of my face is smooth and Clair but the entire right is full of bumps that just won t go away. Oh I ve stop taking the contraceptive Minigynon since January of this year after being on it for yrs.
Thanks for your query . Acne along with bumps on face is severest form known as cystic acne which don't respond to oral or topical antibiotics. Stress and hormonal changes are very common causes for this condition. Contraceptives as you have stopped so hormonal changes are there. Other are side effect due to certain medicines like steroidal drugs. I would suggest you to :
Start with Isotretinoin as that has the best chance of improvement. It is antiinflammatory, sebostatic and comedolytic in action. Improvement usually becomes evident within 2 weeks. Take over the counter anti allergic drug like zyrtec.
Give cold compresses to acne and bumps on face.
Use facewash containing salicylic acid , which is very effective .
Apply apple cedar vinegar for 15 minutes and then wash away once daily .
Besides Isotretinoin I would suggest topical antiacne treatment i.e clindamycin or benzoyl peroxide gel as scar treatment for active acne . topical retinoids are also very effective.
