How To Treat An Open Wound On The Leg With Dark Discolouration?
Hi, I have had a hole in my leg since Nov. 2015. My leg itched around my ankle : I scratched it and got blood in my fingernails...the hole got bigger, deeper, redder and is growing. I have been treated at a wound center near my home for 5 months now to no avail. Was referred to a vascular Dr who said get ultra sound. during the ultra sound the tech got the gel in my open wound... it has been extra red and irritated every since...Dr wants to collapse the vein in my leg in hopes of starving? the ulcer? I have been getting very purple when I bump my arms at work...purple like I see in elderly folks who bruise. I have chrones and am taking sulfazine, basaliside, carvedelol, lisinipril for the uc and rapid heartbeat. Will this ulcer ever heal? What can I do (trying to avoid the surgery since my blood seems not good at this point in time. HELP
There might be local infection and it may be the reason for delayed healing. As of now you can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin after cleaning with soap and water. It wound remains the same, better to consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.
