How To Treat And Prevent Recurring Painful Absesses On Inner Thigh And Anus Region With Negative Staph Infection?
i have absesses on my inner thigh and anus region that have been recurring over almost 2 years now. they can be small but ive had some that get very big and painful. they have never tested positive for staph infection though. what could cause these and how can i prevent them?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. From your history and description, you seem to be having recurrent furunculosis. Furuncle is an infection of the hair follicle and its surrounding tissue. The most common organisms causing this are staphylococcus and streptococcus. Since you have been tested negative for staphylococcus, it could be a streptococcal infection. You could benefit from a course of antibiotics like penicillin, cloxacillin or cephalexin. It is best to repeat a pus culture and sensitivity test and take antibiotics as per the sensitivity testing. Use a soap containing antibacterial like triclosan. Increase your intake of Vitamin C ( Citrus fruits, broccoli, etc) or you could take oral supplements containing Vitamin C. You could also take multivitamins of B- complex group to boost your immunity. Keep the area dry at all times. Hope this helps you. Take care.
