How To Treat Benign Lymphoid Hyperplasia In Lacrimal Glands?

Had an MRI and found a mass on both lacrimal glands. Biopsy results are benign lymphoid hyperplasia in lacrimal glands. What are treatment options? What are the chances of this becoming lymphoma? How similar is it to lymphoma? What type of doctor should I see?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The lacrimal glans show lymphoid hyperplasia which is a benign condition. I suggest you to get tested for anti-nuclear antigen (ANA) and Sjogren's syndrome (Anti Ro and Anti La) since lacrimal gland hyperplasia is associated with Sjogren's syndrome.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
