How To Treat Black Discoloration Under Nail Along With Numbness At Tip?
Hi, I crushed the tip of my index finger under a large rock a few days ago. There is a very small amount of black discoloration under the nail, but the entire tip is numb and has been for a few days. Should I go see a doctor? Will the numbness recede on its own?
The black discoloration under nail is probably due to hematoma. Numbness can be due to compression of nerve. Hematoma usually resolves within few days. I suggest you to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment and thus management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
