How To Treat Bleeding From Scab Caused Due To Ear Piercing?

I got my ears pierced about a year and a half ago. I ve constantly kept earrings in since then but about 3 weeks ago I took them out and haven t put an earring back in since then. When I took the earring out I noticed a scab on one ear but didn t worry about it. It s been a few weeks and the scab hasn t fallen off. My ear doesn t hurt and hasn t been bleeding or anything but why won t the scab go away? I don t want to pick it off. Should I put earrings back in?
