General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the broken screw may be related to faulty surgical technique malalignment of plate and screw, weak bone support underlying, repeated infection, uncontrolled diabetes, use of corticosteroids hampering bone recovery malnutrition, lack of calcium, vitamin D 3, severe active smoking, use of illicit drugs affecting the recovery phase.

* Treatment should be plate and screw removal at first instance followed by repeat procedure if CT scan demands the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
