How To Treat Bruised And Injured Skin?

TToday I bent my thumb all the way back while applying pressure while trying to install a part. It hurt really bad and hard Sharp pain for a couple hours whenever I used it. I can't grip anything or apply pressure or lift as well. I don't have full range of motion and at the bottom of the base is bruised. almost like a ring around it
