How To Treat Bump And Soreness In Tongue Caused Due To Piercing A Ring?

Ive had a toungue ring for about 4 months. Its healed and everything but from time to time it gets sore. Today i realised i had a bump surounding the piercing on the bottom. It doesnt hurt. Its the same color as my tounge. There is no discharge and i clean it regularly. Should i be worried?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a lump and soreness at the site of piercing after 4 months indicate that there must have been some trauma or injury at the pierced site which may be during eating or some other activity leading to injury and inflammation and the lump formed is as a reaction to injury..

Soreness also occurs as tongue is a mobile organ and is very frequently used and anything at the tip can injure the soft tissues leading to inflammatory action causing soreness and lump is also due to it..

In case if it is frequently happening and it is not any compulsion to wear a tongue stud you can remove it and let the pierced area heal..

In case you want to continue wearing it you should be very careful to avoid any injury to prevent soreness and lump formation..

Yo can apply ice over the lump to heal..

Steroid based ointments can help..

Although the lump will also gradually heal without any treatment..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
