How To Treat Chronic Headaches That Is Not Cured By Amitriptyline?
Hello, I have suffered from chronic headaches for about 6 years. I've tried just about every drug on the market- topamax did nothing and amitriptyline, which I'm taking now, lessens the pain enough for me to function but still leaves me in continuous pain. Someone recently suggested medical marijuana to me- I live in colorado where it's legal but I'm only interested in the tablets. I've had a hard time finding literature on using it in tablet form for chronic headaches. Please advise. Thanks, Hannah
Thank you for the question. Amitriptyline is a good drug for chronic headaches and you have mentioned that it does give relief to you. however would like to know whether you have a full body check up to rule out other systemic causes of chronic headache. Studies with respect to medical marijuana do show some promise but it would be strictly not advisable for you to take them unless a neurologist suggests the same. Request you to consult your physician for any new prescriptions for chronic headache and you could also have a look at biofeedback mechanisms to control pain.
