How To Treat Cough?

i have a tendency to cough when i drink cold water. when i stopped drinking cold water or take ice cream or any cold desserts, the cough stops. this started happening to me after i had a serious cough issue and may have damaged my throat or breathing airway permanently. is there a way to cure this?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that your tonsils are irritated when you take cold foods and this irritation makes you cough after having cold things.

I recommend that you avoid cold items for a few months. In addition, if you really have to take it, you take Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) after having the cold food to avoid irritation. Also, you should take Tossex DMR syrup (Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10 mg) 5 ml 3 times a day for 5 days. This will control the reaction from the tonsil.

After a few months, the tonsils will be fine and will be able to bear cold food items. However, if it does not get better at all, you should see an ENT specialist for the clinical examination.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
