How To Treat Dark Skin Discolouration On Inner Thighs?

I have always been a bigger woman so having dark patches between my inner thighs is nothing new to me. I noticed everytime. I have given birth the dark patches peel off like dirt and my thighs look clean and healthy. Why do the patches peel off after birth but months later come back and I cannot get the patches off my thighs no matter what I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hyperpigmentation can occur due to friction and chaffing caused by tight clothing, bulging fat or vigorous exercise. Hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovaries, hypothyroidism or insulin resistance can also cause blackish discolouration. Kindly check your blood sugar levels.

Dry skin can also cause hyper-pigmentation. Allergy to any new drugs or creams can also cause eczema or chemical burn like reaction. Regular use of moisturiser will reduce the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
