How To Treat Discoluration And Swelling Of Finger Caused Due To An Injury?
I was playing frisbee and my friend threw it really hard. It hit my finger and the site turned blue almost immediately. It has remained discolored and swollen. The swelling is localized to just the middle segment of my middle finger, the tip and base of my middle finger are not swollen. Could i have fractured something, or is it probably just a deep bruise? I can bend my finger, i just can t make a fist because of the swelling
As per your complain it seems that discolouration and swelling of the finger seems to be probably due to traumatic injury to the soft tissues and bruising seems to be due to ruptured superficial blood vessels that causes accumulation of blood into soft tissues and it causes bruising.. In case if you are able to move the finger and bend it then you need not to worry as there does not seems that there is bony fracture.. I would suggest you to:
-Do cool compresses over the swelling..
-Apply numbing gel over the finger to relieve pain..
-Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen...
In case of no improvement consult an Orthopedician and get an x ray done..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
