Dr., I m getting a real education re. earwax and associated problems. I have seen a P.A. Taking my forefinger and putting it in wax sideways and twirling around outwards I am encountering filaments in the wax. Also, in one area I found a sheath-like covering with criss-cross filaments which I could not penetrate with finger alone so I carefully made a small hole with pointed, small scissors to get scissors in and cut out the sheath. I have used DeBrox, Hydro. Per., Mineral Oil.; laid down sideways to get those agents to end of ear canal. I have noticed since irritating ear canal the wax and filaments are back again. Filaments are emanating from end of ear canal. P.A. has prescribed Neo/Poly/Hc 1% Otic Sus Baus, 4 drops 3x daily for 10 days for infection and Mupirocin 2% to use topically 2x daily to affected areas of infection. I have done a little research on computer: twirling ear wax can create cords . I had 2 that I felt. P.A. said I was nuts and paranoid and would send me to a Psychiatrist and a ENT Dr. if I keep harping. ? s: Can you have worms in your ears? What are the filaments? They rapidly glue themselves to walls of ear canal. P.A. said do not play with ears, Do Not clean ears, she said strands are part of my ear, made up of cartilage. The reason I see her is for minor med. for depression and sleeping pills and that the place is a community health center. I go there because I lost my reg. Med. Ins. Thanks for considering my inquiry.John
