Gout is a common disease affecting the joints..most commonly big toe joint characterised by redness, warmth, swelling and pain. Foods containing purines might precipitate...like meat, liver, sea food...etc. Alcohol intake may also precipitate or exacerbates the condition. Antiinflammatory drugs like naproxane, ibuprofen etc...and colchicine and corticosteroids may be considered. Other medications like allopurinol and febuxostat may be taken for prevention purpose.
