How To Treat Elevated Blood Sugar Levels?

Sunday night I went to the emergency room not feeling right. When I got there my sugar was 397, the gave me a shot of insulin, gave me a bag of liquids through iv, then checked my sugar again and it was 368, and they sent me home saying that I had a kidney infection. Since I have come home, I have been monitoring my sugar levels, but it keeps getting higher. Just a bit ago I checked it and it was 543. I took my Metafomin, 1000 mg 2 times daily. I dont understand why it keeps getting higher. I am not eating any sugar, drinking water, and eating healthy foods. Can someone help me, I am scared. Should I have been sent home from the hospital with my sugar out of control like this? What should I do? Pam Stallings Thanks for your Reply!

Having sugar levels in that range is definitely high and invites check up, but not as alarming as an emergency. So you're good having been sent home if only blood sugar levels were the issue and you were alright otherwise. Regarding yoir persistent high measurements, I suggest you to alter your anti diabetic medications. For that you need to visit a diabetologist with the following blood reports:

FBS, PPBS, HbA1C

Urea, creatinine

Urine R/M

Kindly note, even putting you on a new drug requires a doctor to know these blood levels for you to get proper diabetic control and less adverse effects from the drugs.
