How To Treat Fever And Congestion?

I am fairly ill at the moment. I have had a fever of 38.6 (101.4) for nearly five days. I am exhausted and very congested. My GP suggested that it is just viral but it does not seem to be going away. What else could it be and how could I remedy it?

does you have anything apart from fever and tiredness,like cough/yellow sputum/throat pain/burning sensation on urination/increased frequency of urination/nausea/vomiting?
