How To Treat Fibroma Which Has Caused Swelling Of The Tongue?

I had a tongue ring 8years ago and have not had a tongue ring in my mouth for 8 years. My tongue recently started swelling and I have a hard knot on the center of my tongue. I went to urgent doc today and the doctor told me it was a fibroma, but when I got home I was examining the area and I noticed there is pus coming out of it. It looks like it is where my tongue ring was 8 years ago. The doctor gave me a script for clindamyacin just in case of abscess. Do I need to go to er or will the meds handle it? Can this go to my brain?

Hello and welcome to health care magic,

Since it is an abscess the medication will do for the time being. You need to be concerned only if the swelling does not reduce in size or the pain increases. In any case wait and watch and do not worry as this will not spread to the brain.
