Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

By your history and description, he is having penetrative lung injury. Hemopneumothorax is common after such trauma. Best treatment is VATS (video assisted thoracoscopic surgery). In this, thoracoscope is introduced into the chest cavity. Lung puncture would be sealed either by glu or suture. Success rate for this is very high. So allow the doctor to go for VATS repair. His bleeding will definitely stop.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
