How To Treat Fluid Retention Around Thigh And Knee Area?

I m tired of fluid retention around my thigh/knee area. I am on water pills, but it doesn t seem to help too much. When I get a chance i prop my feet up and the swelling goes down. I have started walking and I noticed if I keep that up, it will be loose and not too swollen. Do I have to also watch certain foods that I intake?

Hello and welcome to healthcare magic community . I am really concerned about your problem but you did not mention about your age and any other health issues like high blood pressure ,Diabetes and joint pains etc . however , if such patients come to my clinic I prefer to do a battery of few tests like liver function , kidney function , urine routine examination . Also , if somebody uses high salt diet , or takes medications like steroids , such situation may arise . interestingly you mentioned that with slight exercise it goes away which is a Good sign and I hope it is not serious . Do continue with light exercise and see your diet too if it salty or supplements containing sodium. See your GP if you have joint pains , lethargy , a change in your urine pattern , loss of appetite and have nausea etc. best of luck . Hope I have answered your question but if you have follow up questions , never hesitate to ask them . you are always welcome and never use any medications including water pills without seeing a doctor .
