Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and thanks for writing in.

From the description of your friends eating behaviours, it appears that he may be having an eating disorder. However, to make a specific and definitive diagnosis, a detailed clinical evaluation is necessary.

Not taking any solid food for weeks together is definitely not good for him and this can lead to a variety of medical problems and complications. In my opinion, he needs to have a proper psychiatric evaluation and further professional help. I would suggest that you convince him and take him for a psychiatric evaluation and further treatment.
