How To Treat Fungal Infection In The Penis?

I have fungal infection in my penis for 7 years. I have consulted many doctors and they gave many external creams like clotrimozole, miconazole, terbinafine, econazole and many oral antifungals like itraconazole, fluconazole but none of them completely cure my infection. So please help me get out of this fungal infection. (If i don t apply any cream my foreskin and my glans become white patches and itchy and swollen ).

Hi,

Noted your history of fungal infection of penis in which the foreskin and glans are covered by white patches, becomes itchy and swollen if you do not apply antifungal cream, treated for 7 years with Itraconazole, Fluconazole, applied creams like Clotrimazole, Miconazole, Terbinafine, Econazole.
- 7 years of antifungal treatment is not curing the skin condition of foreskin and glans means your problem is either some immunocompromising condition like diabetes, autoimmune disease or diabetes which I am sure you should have ruled out .
- The best way is to take a second opinion of another Skin Specialist.
- Circumcision and send the affected skin for biopsy which will surely give a definite diagnosis and thus allow for specific treatment. Circumcision itself may act as treatment.
- Also important is to have proper internal and complete Gynecological examination and treatment as required about your partner.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
